I am the Princess

This is my last blog post for this term for the Viva Las Vegastamps! design team.Thank you DeeDee, Jeff, and Wayne for giving me this opportunity for being part of this awesome team and an awesome stamp company!

I picked up baggie full of round coaster at Savers back in May. I got them to alter them and or to make little round journals with them. Here is one that I did. It was a quick and easy project

I took some pink tissue paper and tore it into pieces and glued it down with matte medium. I then took a number stencil put it over the coaster and sponged some magenta acrylic paint on it.  I took some punchinella and sponged some white craft paint on it.  On White cardstock I stamped the Angel baby with black Menento ink pad. The Angel baby is probational a boy, but I made the angle into a girl. LOL I colored the wings and diaper pink. I cut out a crown from a My Minds Eye paper that I was given a scrap of.  I mounted the baby on the coaster with foam tape.I stamped the But, but, but, I'm the PRINCESS! on white card stock with the same ink pad. I cut the sentiment out and used glossy accents to it.

Viva Las Vegastamps! Halloween Blog Hop Day 7

Hello again! Today is the Last day of the Hop. Hope everyone Had a blast this week. I know I have. Don't forget to vote for your favorite that has been linked up on the Viva Las Vegastamps! blog.

Today project has got to be one of my favorites that I've done for the blog hop. altered mouse traps.

Altering mouse traps have been the in thing to alter. and can be cheap. I got the mouse traps at Dollar tree. You do have to take off a couple of things on the trap though. I did the mouse trap on the right first.

I took some tissue paper and tore some pieces off and with matte medium glued them on the trap. It was kinda tricky to get the tissue paper glued down toward where the springs are in the middle and moving the 2 side things to glue the paper down but I did it.

While the front and back were drying, I stamped the full moon, the hang-on witch, and the Life is a witch sentiment (and yes I used the same stamps for the atc on day one. LOL) stamped on white cardstock with black Memento ink pad. I used watercolors by Artist Loft to color the moon and the witch and the sentiment. Then i fussy cut the pieces out, and the words. I glued the moon with glossy accents.T the witch I used foam tape. the sentiment I cut the words apart, and glued down with glossy accents. I then added a Tim Holtz swivel clasp with a Halloween token and attached to the bottom of the trap. I loved how this turned out that I made another one for a friend of mine for he birthday and she loved it! :)

The second trap I did is with paint, as I didn't want to mess with tissue paper again after the first one(but like I said i did do one just like the 1st trap, so go figure. lol)

I painted the trap green. after it dried I used a crackle medium on it. after that dried I painted the trap black. I got a nice crackle as the result.

I stamped the Frankenstein and the Friday the 13th one white cardstock with black Memento ink pad. I colored Frankenstein and /friday the 13th with Artist Loft Watercolors. Glued Frankie on top of the mouse trap with glossy accents and Friday the 13th on the bottom. I hot glued a flower that was made by our awesome DT leader DeeDee. Love how this turned out as well!

Viva L:as Vegastamps! Halloween Blog Hop day 6

Happy Friday and Welcome to Day 6 of the Halloween blog hop.Now if you remember from the VLVS! blog you know you should be on the hunt on the secret letters throughout the Design teams blogs. hope you been finding them and writing them down. wonder where you will find mine? :P

Today is another card. I'm doing another fun technique, the clear embossing powder resist technique. Now if you remember this is what I was trying to do back in June in the Mary Vogel Lozinak blog hop when I was using the photo paper and came across my happy accident.

I took a piece of Kromecote and stamped the tree background with clear embossing pad and embossed with the ultra high gloss embossing powder. I then took Hottie Pottie Hot pink and Screamin' Banchee Black Starburst Sprays by Lindy's stamp gang. I know these are not traditional Halloween colors, but sometimes you don't have to be traditional. I spayed them on the Kromeote and then wiping what got onto the emboss image. Yes some got of the spray did stay on some parts of the embossing. but that is okay.

On a piece of white cardstock I stamped the Witch CostumeCemetery, and The witching hour stamps with Black Memento ink pad. The Witch I colored with the Picked raspberries and Crushed Olive distress ink pads. I then fussy cut the cemetery and the witch costume. attached the the sentiment and the witch costume and one of the cemetery i stamped with Miracle tape. The other I put foam tape on it and put it on the kromecote piece.

To put the card together. The base is black Recollections card. the pattern paper is a Halloween paper by GCD Studios. Mounted the Kromecote to the pattern paper and those 2 peices on to the card base using Miracle tape.

And just for kicks I stamped with clear embossing pad and embossed with the ultra high gloss embossing powder the tree background stamp on the envelope.

bugaboo sketch challenge

Made this card for the Stella Sketch challenge over at Catch the Bug challenge blog. I used a digi stamp from Bugaboo. The paper is Happy Haunting from Graphic 45. The witching Hour is by Viva Las Vegastamps!

Viva Las Vegastamps! halloween blog hop day 5

Welcome back! How as the hopping been so far? Have you gone to the VLVS! forums and say hi to us on the Halloween post over there? if not don't forget to do that! :D

Today I made a fun tag using one of my favorite techniques. The glue crackle technique. I know this technique has been around awhile, bit I learned about this when I first started art journaling.

The white tag is about 6 1/4 inch tall. I first painted a black base coat on the tag. After it dried I put a generous amount of Elmer's white glue on the tag. With a paint brush I brushed the glue along the whole tag. Then while the glue is still wet I put some orange craft paint on the tag. Again I took the same paint brush and brushed the paint with the glue. To give the tag a head start in drying time. I turned on the heat gun to the tag, just til you see some cracks forming. then set to dry.

As you can see you can get some great cool looking cracks. I didn't want to cover all that up. you can see there is an Hand an E in the cracks. lol

On white cardstock I stamped with Black Versafine ink pad stamped the Wicked Witch with broom, The spiked fence and "the witching hour" stamps. Embossed it the the Ultra High Gloss Embossing powder. I colored the face of the witch with green water color. I took the black soot distress ink pad and a water brush and painted the fence black to take out the white cardstock. did the same for the witching hour.

I took the bird claw die cut that I had and used the Clear embossing pad and black UTEE and did a few layers of the UTEE then stamped with the clear embossing pad the tree writing collage background stamp. I used the claw as a tree.Attached the tree with Miracle tape. Then I used glossy accents on both ends of the fence. The with I used foam tape to put it on the fence. In the upper right corner I had a bat punch that was in my stash. Put Miracle tape in the body and folded the wings in to make it look like it was flying. The witching hour underneath the bat.both attached with miracle tape

Viva Las Vegastamps! Halloween Blog hop day 4

Welcome back to day 4! Hope you are enjoying the hop! I know I am. :)

Today I'm going to show you a little faux TP mini I made. It is really easy and made from 1 sheet of 12 x 12. I saw a youtube video on how to do it. You can watch the video on how to make the mini. Like I said it is really easy! The only thing that gave me trouble when I first did it after i saw the video was the measurements for the inside pockets. lol I will never claim to be a math wiz or a great measure person. LOL I have the hardest time with 8th on a ruler or cutter.LOL When it was time to cut the paper for the tags, I had to zoom the screen out and look where she was placing the paper to cut. :P I used a lot of the new VLVS! Halloween stamps for this project, for the tags and the pages.

This is the cover. The paper i used is the Kraft resist Halloween stash by Tim Holtz. I choose to use binder rings as the binding. These are from Teresa Collins that were in a kit that I never made. LOL. i used my Crop -a-dile to punch holed and eyelts on each side of the paper to give some strength. There are 4 pages in this album. I used The Fall distress ink pads for all of the pages.and tags.

The cover I used the Happy Haunting stamp on Kraft cardstock. Used the Ripe persimmon on it. the cat is from a sticker a day calender form my stash. The flower is made from fabric i have in my stash and colored with Dark Chocolate truffle and Voodoo Violet Blue Starburst Spry and a little bit of bucket o Blood Moonshadow Mist by Lindy Stamp gang.I added one of the Halloween coins by Tim Holtz.(good think I did pick those up at Tuesday Morning! :P)

Here is the next page and the non pattern side of the tag. The page I colored 3 pearls with purple bic marker(its became a habit when doing these projects for the hop. lol) and put them on the corner. The tag i stamped the witch costume on black archival ink pad and the witching hour using gathered twig distress ink pad.

The next page I just stamped the giant head skeleton on a piece of Kraft cardstock with black archival ink pad. glued it on to the end of the page.

For this page I stamped the R.I.P. Jack O Lantern on white cardstock and colored it with ripe persimmon distress ink pad with a water brush. Only glued the bottom of it so you can easily tuck a picture in there.
This is the tag for the page above. I used the tree background stamp in the gathered twig. I then stamped the R.I.P. jack o latern and the cemetery stamp with the black archival. I stamped the flock of birds int ehe same  ink pad as the tree background. I then stuck a sticker on white cardstock cut it out. and used a little bit of Mircale tape to put it on the tag. (I also used Miracle tape to make the pages of the mini.)

This page is just with a Flower I made using the same fabric and sprays as the first one. the little circle is covering the brad i put in the middle.
Other side is just a die cut from a day by day calender of die cuts that was in my stash. i glued a corner of it so you can stick something in there like the ticket.  I have the Tim Holtz ticket die so i cut some and stamped the tree background and the Oct. 31 on it.
The back of this tag is the Giant skeleton head stamp and another ticket die cut with the tree background and the Friday the 13 stamp.

The last page. Another sticker that I stuck on white cardstock and glued the top and bottom of the ghost for another place to stick another ticket.
And finally the back of the mini. I didn't do anything here because I like how it is when i put the page together. I mean he's got a hole in the middle of his head. LOL

Viva Las Vegastamps! Halloween blog hop day 3

Hi and welcome back to day 3. Hope you all did today's game and  visited the VLVS website  to see what is there. Don't forget to go the the VLVS blog and commenting on what you learned on the website. :)

Today I'm going to show you a card I made. And I did a little soot stamping.

Soot stamping is a cool technique, but it takes a while to get enough soot on the glossy cardstock. Or in this case I used Kromecote

You need a candle and a piece of Kromecote(or a glossy cardstock) and maybe a spray bottle of water just in case. Safty First!. Light the candle and place the kromecote over the flame. Not to close to the flame or else you risk of not catching the soot and burn the paper, or have it catch on fire (ask me how I know this. LOL). Just enough so you can catch the black soot on the cardstock. It does take a while for the soot to cover the whole piece you using. You want the kromecote completely black. But I got tired of waiting, and thought what I had was good enough. I took the tree writing collage stamp and stamped on the soot kromecote. it came out really cool. Now you really need to seal it with something. Me being lazy, didn't do that. I did wiped the piece a bit and it still looked good. A little faded, but still cool. I trimmed the piece down a bit.

For the card itself I cut down a Recollection card base to 4x 5 1/2. layered it with some old Recollection Halloween paper from a couple years ago. The purple band is Tissue paper. I used Miracle tape
to attach all the paper layers to the card base.

I then attached the written collage imaged I stamped and trimmed onto the card with Miracle tape. I then Stamped the Faded crow/raven on a piece of clean white Kromecote in black Memento ink pad. I used Black Soot distress ink pad and a water brush to paint the white parts black. The nevermore I stamped  on left over scraps of the soot Kromecote with the Memebto ink pad. I attached those with foam tape.It needed something, so i took a die cut I have of a bird claw and used a few layers ofblack UTEE before stamping the tree writing collage stamp into it. i used a clear embossing ink pad for the stamp. I then used foam tape to attach it to the card. Finally I colored 3 pearls with a black Bick mark it marker and put them on the card.

Viva Las Vegastamps! Halloween Blog Hop Day 2

Hi and welcome to day 2 of the Halloween Blog Hop! Glad you came back today and had fun hopping around yesterday! Remember the links of the order Design team members for the hop are at the end of my post. :)

Today my project is a simple little tag. I did this tag right when I got one of the Halloween plates.

I used a manila tag, about 4 3/4 tall. I used all three of the Fall Distress ink pads on various parts of the tag. I then stamped the Pasteurs poison bottle with Black Memento ink pad. I stamped one bottle on white cardstock. Colored it with the Gather Twigs and Seedless Preserves distress ink pads and a water brush.I then took crackle accents and put some of the label.Set it aside to dry over night. I then stamped Poison on the bottom. I used the alphas from the plate 1430 and stamped out "pick your". I attached the now crackle bottle on the tag with foam tape. It still needed a little something something. I took 3 recollection pearls and colored them with an orange Bic Mark-it marker, and put them on the tag. I took some bright orange ribbon and dulled it down with Golden Doubloons MoonShadow Mist by Lindy's stamp gang.

Viva Las Vegastamps! Halloween Blog Hop day 1

Hi everyone! Welcome to the first day of the Viva Las Vegastamps! Halloween Blog hop! If you been following in order you just left Lyneen's blog to mine. The link list of the order of the blog hop is at the bottom of my post. I hope you like my project for today.

Today's project are ATC's. the background is an old school technique that I learned long time ago, that I have forgotten about, until recently. Its the plastic wrap background technique. What you need to do the backround is:

Kromecote(or glossy cardstock) I cut the Kromecote to size where I could get 2 atcs for each background I did.
Sprays or paints or ink pads. In this post I am using sprays
plastic wrap

For the "Nevermore"ATC I used Screaming Banchee Black and Voodoo Violet blue Starburst sprays by Lindy's Stamp Gang.I sprayed each color in various spots on the Kromecote. I then tore a piece of plastic wrap and placed it on top of the sprayed Kromecote. you want the wrinkles the plastic wrap gives when you put it on. set it aside to dry. When its dry pull off the plastic wrap and this is what you get

Pretty cool right?

Not wanting to take away from the cool background I stamped Tree background stamp on a clear embossing pad and embossed it using the Ultra High Gloss Clear embossing powder. I stamped the full moon, Faded Raven, and Nevermore in white cardstock with black versafine ink pad, and embossed with the Ultra High Gloss Clear embossing powder. I coloered the moon with very little drop of yellow gold spray by S.E.I. tumble dye. For a shimmer I added a little bit of gold pearlesent watercolor. I cut everything out. To take out the white I used a purple watercolor by artist loft. Glued the moon and raven with glossy accents. and because the Nevermore was still wet when i used the watercolor, it kinda curled a bit. i took advantage of that and glued the ends with glossy accents.

The "Life is a Witch" ATC I used the Tumble Dye sprays that I had just gotten. I used the Yellow Gold, Black, and green sprays. I again sprayed on the kromecote. Then placed plastic wrap. Let it dray. Once dried it look like this

Again pretty cool!

Once again not wanting to take away from the cool background I stamped the tree background stamp in clear embossing ink pad and embossed with ultra high gloss embossing powder. I stamped the Hang-on Witch and "Life is a Witch and then you fly" And the full moon stamps on white cardstock with black Versafine ink pad and embossed with the Ultra High Gloss embossing powder. I cut out the moon, and the witch(as much as I could without cutting anything off by mistake). I used very little dab of the yellow gold tumble spray and painted the moon and where there was white on the witch. I also colored the sentiment. I also added a little green with the pearlesent watercolor so it would be be so yellow. I cut the sentiment apart. glued everything with Glossy accents. The flying witch is a die cut from a day by day calender that was in my stash. I used foam tape for her.

I got caught in crystals!

Next week from Sept 23-29 Some members of the VLVS! Design team are doing a Halloween blog hop using the awesome new Halloween stamps! To get your feet wet for the hop here are 2 cards I made with an awesome background technique-caught in crystals. And not using glassy accents which can be expensive to use.

So one night I was chatting with some friends, and one of them, Julia showed up how to do the caught in crystals technique. It was really cool. I've been wanting to do this for the Design team when I saw to do it. I didnt have the right stuff to do it at the time. I still don't really. but I will tell you how I did it and why I used and also tell you what you really have to use instead. I first made a whole bunch and this was the result. I will say I did have a hard time trying to get good pictures of these, due to them being transparencies.

Then I forgot to take step by step pictures! so I did it again. :)

What I used (what you really need with be in parentheses)

transparency film-if you want to stamp and emboss it needs to be heat resistant
Stamps
Versafine black inkpad(You really need a stazon ink pad. I do not have one so I made do with what I have)
Embossing powder
Glitter -I used Art Institute glitter
Shimmer spray-I used Lindy's stamp gang
Pledge Floor car clean and shine (you really need pledge floor care with future shine in the US. This is really hard to fine. but try Wal mart.) I thought the one I got will work as it is clear. and it did, but I had to do an extra step.
Tissue or napkins that are pulled apart for one layer of tissue or napkins
Gel medium (this you do not need if you find the one with future shine, but this in my extra step)

Stamps I used

Other items used
Graphic 45 Happy Hauntings
Black cardstock card bases by recollection
Fall seasonal distress inks pads
spider die cut
Black Memento ink pad
Halloween paper by GCD Studios
foam tape
Embossing buddy

Now all that is out of the way. now the step by step.

If you want to stamp and emboss the image, first take the embossing buddy and go over the transparency film. Then stamp your image and pour embossing powder over it. Heat to emboss. It will warp a bit. and using Versafine instead of the Stazon the image did bead up and separate a bit, but nothing horrible. And it could be covered up.

Next, turn it over embossing side down.Spray on your sprays. I used these three by Linday's stamp Gang. and sprinkled some glitter.

Next pour a pit of the floor care onto the transparency. move it around with your finger. This is what once the spray and floor care is put on. Spread it around with your finger (this is a messy project).

Next, Take a tissue and pull the layers of paper apart, so you have 2 sheets. crimple it up a bit and put it down on the transparacy. pat it down, letting it soak the liquids. this should hold the transparancy to the tissue. let it dry. overnight is nest. This is what it looks like.

and this is what it looks like when dried.

Here is another way to do this. This time I didn't stamp before. This will just be a background.

Instead of spraying I put some of the floor care onto the transparency first. I then sprinkled glitter and sprayed some lindy's sprays. gt get this. This was was really moving around on me., when i was trying to take the picture.

I then put the tissue on. you can also use napkins, just remember to pull the layers of the napkin apart and use the single ply of it. Let it dry.

Now I do have to say When I first was doing this and the first one I did was drying, I noticed that the backing was not sticking to all of the transparency. and some if came off. To try and save the other ones I did I took the gel  medium and very carefully, so it didn't tear the tissue or napkins brushed it on. then let that dried and that did the trick.Like I said in the beginning if I had found the one with Future shine it probably wouldn't have happened.

Now You have all these backgrounds (I will do a video showing all the ones I did, as this post is getting kinda long. LOL) now what. Well now you can make a card!

I trimmed the Transparency to get rid of the access. I used recollection black card bases that were 5 x 6 1/2.  I matted two of the papers of the Graphic 45 Happy Haunting paper line trimed one to 4 3/4 x 6 1/4 and the other 4 1/2 by 6. Used Mircale tape to attached the papers to the card base. Also used it attached the transparency to the card. I stamped the "happy Haunting" with black Memento ink pad, on a piece of scrap. used some of the Seedless Preserves and Ripe Persimmon on it. Mounted it on the card using foam tape.

This other card I trimmed the extra transparency around the image. Used the same Recollection black card base. Attached the spider paper by GCD Studio with Miracle tape. stamped the "all Hallow's eve on white cardstock. Mounted that and the spider die cut with foam tape.

Hope you try this. Its really fun and addicting to do. I'm still on the look out for pledge with future shine. :)

Hope you all will come to the party and see what we all cooked up for you! :):

more journal pages

some are not fully done. i took these pictures at night, so the lighting may not be the best. i know i want to take a better picture of one of the journal spreads.
