April's ARC book

For April's ARC book I read The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. The book takes place in Washington DC, where the main character Robert Langdon is summons to come to give a lecture but as he arrives in DC things take a turn. Robert's mentor is kidnapped and beaten. and Robert finds an ancient invitation. The only way Robert can save Peter is to follow the object to where it leads to.

This is another book that I started to read(200 pages in), then set it aside for a while, like I did with Angels and Demons. then later pick it back up. But unlike Angels and Demons, The pace did not pick up for me. It was kinda boring for me. Some parts did seem interesting but then it was the same old same old. I was hoping for more history like the 2 books before this one. It was a quick read for being a 509 page book. The chapters were short, which made the it a quick read. After picking the book back up at page 200, it took me 2 days to read it. I thought it would take me a while to read it.which it probably would have since I was not that into it. I would have dragged it out if I wasn't in this challenge or wanting to read as many of the hard copy books (especially the bigger ones) I have before I move( IF WE EVER SELL THIS HOUSE!). Less to pack and take with us.

Julie Nutting tags

Yesterday I had gotten some new Julie Nutting goodness, so I had a play with them. I made these 2 tags. Started with them late last night and finished them this morning.

I am not a tag maker. This was really out of my zone. But they were fun to do.

old Hollywood doll case

Finally getting around to bloging this. After all I already did a youtube video of this.

As you guys know i made a doll closet (from Bona's tut on youtube)for my cousin-in-law(is that a word) baby shower last month. It was a hit. Everyone loved it. My cousin really loved it saying "My birthday is June 3rd, if you wouldn't mind making me one." So I did. I id give her a choice of paper. I took a pic of 2 sets of papers shabby chic or old Hollywood. She picked old Hollywood (which would of been my choice too lol)

Paper is Graphic 45 Curtain Call. Basically used some of the same products as I did for the baby one. Wild Orchid crafts flowers. Prima wood pieces and Julie Nutting girl, and a Michael's frame used a a mirror. You can see I did add a dress form which is the Tim Holtz sizzix die. I also colored some of the flowers with Tinsel color shine by Heidi Swapp. I did use bling from Micheal's in the $1.50 bin for the handles of the case, the "drawer pulls" (and no the drawers do not open) and the belt on the dress form.

Journal pages

So hare are a few more pages I've done in my small Dylusion art journal. I'm almost done with this journal. :)

This was apart of a challenge/homework from Dar. The theme of the week was Women in History. When she gave the theme I knew what I wanted to do. The picture of Anne is from the Life Magazine book I got from my library book sale. I colored her skin with Neo color 2's.

I staarted out with drawing and coloring the girl with neo 2's. Then everyone in my group had gotten these cards from Kiala Givehand. Dede did a poster based on the cards she drew. I wrote them down since I don't have the deck of cards. (sorry I think $15 is a bit much for a deck of cards. ) So one of the prompts that Dede drew was draw something. Well I already drew something so I did the rest of the prompts on this page. Don't ask what the other prompts were, I don't remember, Don't have the paper any more. lol

Love how she turned out.

Another Dar homework/challenge theme was Fire. The flames are from MFT rockstar die set. I colored some book paper with dylusions sprays in bubble gum pink and lemon zest. The "scream" and the words are from a napkin.

This was another Dar Homework. theme was trees. The background was napkins that i glued down with paper mache glue that i made from Soul food lesson I did. After it dried I traced the tree mask and painted it pink. Go Figure! out lined the tree and broken hearts in brown sharpie marker. I then took a metalic blue gel stick and went over the page to highlight the texture the napkins gave with the glue. The quote I did with my Dymo labeler

This page I was playing around and used the rest of the book pages that i didn't use after i die cut the flames.

VLVS! April challenge

There is a new monthly challenge over on Viva Las VegaStamps! blog. Here is the inspiration board they put up to inspire you.

And here is what I made

I used a Tim Holtz Retro Cirque texture fade on white cardstock. I then took Dylusion sprays in Lemon Zest and  Pure Sunshine. There is a little bubble gum pink on there from over spray on another project. :/ When it was dried I cut the paper into 2 ATC cards. On a scrap of white cardstock i stamped with Black Memento ink pad the girl with Umbrella facing away. i clolored her using Faber Castell's Kids water color crayons. I used foam tape to up her on the ATC. I took some more scraps and sprayed the Lemon Zest Dylusions spray. Then stamped the sentiments after it dried. Cut the words apart and glued them to the ATC with Glossy accents. The one on the left I added 3 blings from Jolie.

Anything but a Card challenge 34: open theme

This month its an open theme over at Anything but a card. You can make anything you want....well almost anything you can't make a card. :P

As you guys know I won a spot in Soul Food over on the Community Thrive, that Mystele put together. Its a 6 month course and there are a ton of teachers and lessons. I will admit I haven't done all the lessons, as they are a little more advance for me painting and drawing wise. But there are some that i can do, done and still want to do. The piece I'm about to show you is one of the lessons from the class. So I can't really explain the step by step. It was mostly to play with abstract art and layers and I got to use Tar Gel that I have had in my stash forever and never knew what to do with. So here are the pictures of what I did. Again I remembered to take pictures along the way. :) Go me!

Then I added the Tar Gel and let it sit over night. I like the texture and shine it gave. The next pictures ais the finished project.

Items used:
5x7 flat board canvas
