Coffee tag for Secret Sister

I hosted a Secret Sister swap that is still going on. Packages are getting mailed out. This time I participated.  My secret Sister got her package last week and showed it today. So I can no blog about the tag I made her.

I started with a Prima tag. I worked on the background a lot. Not liking what was hapening. I set the tag aside and was working another tag. I liked what I did on that tag, So I did it to this tag. I painted the whole tag black. Once dried I painted  part of the tag purple. I then put the chunky circle over the wet pant. I took a baby wipe and wiped the paint off. I then did the other part of the tag. It was too dark so I added some white through a punchenilla. The hexagon Chipboard piece is from UmWowStudio. I just painted it purle. I used Wood glue to stick it on the tag. I cut the extra piece that were sticking out and glued them on the tag.

The Julie Nutting girl I stamped on book text and use the Prima light skin tone markers Her hair is Neo color 2's. The water brush had some pearlesent water colors still on the brush, so her hair is sparkly. lol. I used scraps to dress her. The Frapp is a Silhouette cut. And the sentiment is from VLVS! I used black seam biding for the top.

Altered box using DecoArt products Part 2

Last month I did a blog post on an box I got at good will and altering it with stuff from DecoArt. I put in the corner after I was getting frustrated while trying to make a rod for the closet so I could hang hangers. Well I got it out of the corner the other day and worked on it.

The other day I had gotten a package from MySmiley360 for my latest campaign. In the package was a speech bubble on a stick, like those photo booth prop things. I saw the stick and was like I can use that for my closet! I ripped it off the paper and cut it and it was a tad too long then i cut a tiny bit off. then it was too short! UGH! I happened to have 2 squares of chipboard from UmWowStudio. It was the right thickness needed for the rod to fit. I painted all 3 pieces in American Lamp(Ebony) black craft paint. I glued the rod to the squares. then after it dried I slid it in. No glue needed.

Next i wanted to work on the Mirror I wanted to put inside the door. I didn't have one, so made my own. I had a frame from Michael's that I got from th $1.50 bin. I used DecoArt Media Gesso in white. then painted it with Carousel Pink. I made the "mirror part by taking a pice of chipboard and cutting it to size of the mirror and putting metal tape on the chipboard. Glued that to the back for the frame. While that dried I was looking through all my flowers. Didn't see any I liked the the size I wanted for the mirror so I got out my Mod Mold of flowers and Amazing Casting Resin from Amazing Casting products. I also used some Allumilite Gun Metal Metallic Powder inside the flowers. I had some resin still lft so I quickly got the trinkets Mod Mold and cast some pieces in that mold.

While that was curing I used a little bit of the same metallic powder on the frame. Here is the before and after of the frame painted. I had 2 of the same frame. 

While everything was drying I added some trim that I got at Michael's also in the $1.50 pin. Glued the trim with Aleen's tacky Glue. I also used a wood veneer piece with my first letter of my name. painted it with the Americana Lamp craft paint. and also used some of the gun metal metallic powder on it. I glued that to the front of the door.

I also added some Wild Orchid Crafts flowers to the top of the box and a couple of black flowers.

The inside of the door I glued down the Mirror using both Aleen's tacky and Crackle accents. I put something heavy on it while it dried and didn't come up. Once dried I glued down 3 of the resin flowers on one corner of the frame. on the opposite corner I used a Prima flower and leaves and 2 Wild Orchid crafts flowers. one what white that I sprayed with Bubble Gump\ pink Dylusions spray. I sprayed DecoArt Shimmer Mist in White on all the flowers and leaves. When everything dried I glued them on. 

Unfortunately This made the made the door a little top heavy. So when I go open the door to take pictures, the box tipped. So the enxt thing to work on is the inside of the box. I already started on the clothes for the close with my Julie Nutting dolls stamps. but the bottom needs something. And hopefully that will balance it out. :)

hmmmm...donuts!

The person I sent this piece to should be getting soon(like today!). So this post will be up when she gets it. I did this piece a while back. Originally this started off as something for Anything But A Card Challenge blog. But I didn't like how it was going. So I scrapped it for the challenge and did something else for ABAC.

This was a DVD tin case that I got at an estate sale around this time last year. I thought it would be fun to alter. Even though the front was embossed a bit. When I got it home I did glue down some napkins to the case, so when I went to put paint or whatever on it the paint wouldn't scratch off from the metal. I also added some lace to give it more texture. Then it say around for a while.

Then months later I picked the case up again. Like I said this was originally going to be for ABAC I think back in March (Its been a while. LOL) My original plan was to put a mini inside the tin. The Mini Treasure mini album from Kathy Orta's book was the perfect size to put inside the tin. So I made the album. and then went to work on the tin. As I was working on the case I as not feeling the colors at all. I was using browns and bronze and a little blue. The vintage look is not my thing at all, though I do like the metallics.

So with me not feeling what was going on with the piece I did what anyone else would do. I painted over it. and change the whole look and feel to it. And I change what I was going to do inside of the tin. A mini doesn't  fit anymore.

I painted over the thin with purple craft paint. I added some sprays for dripage. and some more paint. I took some punchenilla and used some molding paste, for some more texture. I added some more antique bronze distress stain to it.

I put that to the side and painted wood embellishments by Prima. I painted them black. Set them aside to dry. Then took some Wild Orchid crafts flowers and sprayed them with Dylusions Crushed Grape, and After Midnight. I also used Heidi Swap Color Shine in Tinsel and Bronze. Set those to dry and went back to the tin. It needed something. So I added some Grapz Pure Glitz by Ranger. I even added some to the words.  After everything was completely dried, I glued everything down. The wood pieces with Alieen's tacky and the flowers with hot glue gun. In hindsight I should of glued the flowers After I did the inside, but oh well! LOL

So for the inside, I cut down 2 sheets of decorative paper to fit both sides of the tin. I don't remember off hand what I used to attach the papers to the tin. I know I said it in my youtube video on this. It was either Miracle Tape or wet glue. The papers are bt TCP Studio. Then I stamped out 2 Julie Nutting girls on the Buff paper pad. and I dressed them from the scraps of the papers I used. I painted their hair and shoes with Neo Color 2's

On this side I added a clock which is antique mirror sticker from Prima. I stamped some donuts (stamp is by stamps by Judith) colored them with color pencils. The font is one I found online. 

This side I took the metal phone that was bronze and painted it pewter with the pewter distress stain. (I wanted to use this for the old Hollywood doll case I made for my cousin, but it was too heavy) With hot glue and glossy accents I glue that baby down. I hot glued 3 Wild Orchid flowers next to the phone.Added more donuts and another sentiment and a girl to that side. The sentiments I added were found on the internet. Thanks Google! :)

Julie Nutting tags

Yesterday I had gotten some new Julie Nutting goodness, so I had a play with them. I made these 2 tags. Started with them late last night and finished them this morning.

I am not a tag maker. This was really out of my zone. But they were fun to do. 

old Hollywood doll case

Finally getting around to bloging this. After all I already did a youtube video of this.

As you guys know i made a doll closet (from Bona's tut on youtube)for my cousin-in-law(is that a word) baby shower last month. It was a hit. Everyone loved it. My cousin really loved it saying "My birthday is June 3rd, if you wouldn't mind making me one." So I did. I id give her a choice of paper. I took a pic of 2 sets of papers shabby chic or old Hollywood. She picked old Hollywood (which would of been my choice too lol) 

Paper is Graphic 45 Curtain Call. Basically used some of the same products as I did for the baby one. Wild Orchid crafts flowers. Prima wood pieces and Julie Nutting girl, and a Michael's frame used a a mirror. You can see I did add a dress form which is the Tim Holtz sizzix die. I also colored some of the flowers with Tinsel color shine by Heidi Swapp. I did use bling from Micheal's in the $1.50 bin for the handles of the case, the "drawer pulls" (and no the drawers do not open) and the belt on the dress form. 

Doll case

Last month I was watching some Youtube Videos and saw Bona video on making a doll case for the Julie Nutting mix media girls. Like the Barbie doll cases. I thought it was so cute. My cousin's wife is having their 4th baby, but its their first girl. Because of that my other cousin (his sister) decided to throw a baby shower so she can get some girl stuff. When I saw Bona's video of this doll case I had to make it for her.

The case is the only 12x12 baby baby paper I have. Little Darlings by Graphic 45. Instead of using a paper for the handle I used fabric that was dyed that I was given frrom Lynn in the first Secret Sister box swap.

I then took some scrap Kraft cardstock to make the faux dressers and shelf. 

The paper I used for this dresser is from My Minds Eye Lime Twist line Life of the Party. The faux drawers is DCWV Glam Rock which was scrap. The "pulls" on the drawers are pearls (yes I knw one pearl is missing when I took the picture. It was glued back on after. ) from Wild Orchid crafts. The lace draping the shelf and the white cording(which was covering a boo boo)were a couple of the things that was given to me in a RAK from Rose.  I also used a light bulb from Prima. The flowers I used were also from Wild Orchid Crafts. The "love" and Smile are wood pieces from Prima. I painted those Magenta with acrylic paint by Blick's. I used hot glue to glue them on. The Julie Butting girl I stamped on  scrap of My Minds eye paper. Her dress was from scraps of pattern paper. I did paint her hair red.

The dresser on the other side I used scraps from Fab Scraps from when I made a mini album with (also another baby gift). I used both sides of the paper. One side was the dresser and the other was the "drawers" again I used Wild orchid crafts pearls for the drawer pulls and their flowers. I orginaly was going to have some dresses cut  out and put them in the closet somehow. but then I remembered I had a little mirror that I thought would look cute for this. So I went downstairs to hunt it down. As you know we are selling the house (want to buy it? huh huh.) and sometime this spring we will be have a moving sale So I empty my desk thats downstairs because we are going to sell it. So the stuff that was in the drawers are now in boxes. So I had to dig boxes and storage containers and never found the mirror. But I did find a frame that I got at Michael's. I took the backing off and made a mirror with some aluminium tape. I glossy accented it to the box. I did try to use hot glue, but the glue was cooled by the time I went to put in the case. When I glued it to the case the frame cracked so I glued 3 WOC flowers to cover that up.

The baby shower was Saturday and everyone loved it. :)

Letting the paper speak for itself

Here is a quick card I made using Prima's Nature Walk. I cut it so I could get the pixi for the card front. I did put some glossy accents on some parts of the paper to add some texture to it.

The inside I used the other side of the scrapbook paper. and stamped the sentiment from Bugawamps.

Party like a rock star!

I made this birthday card for a friend of mine who's birthday is comeing up soon.

I took some of the scraps I had from the Glam Rock stack by DCWV and punched squares with the EK Success 7/8 square punch. I then glued them down with Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA glue on a separate piece of black Recollection cardstock cut a quarter inch smaller than the black card base(also by Recollections).

I then took one of my Julie Nutting girls that I had already had made(made a bunch of them when I got them.) She is dressed with some scraps of Rock Star stack from DCWV. I backed her on black card stock scrap and cut her out and glued her to the card.(I did at first pop dotted her to the card, but decied to tape and glue her down because I was mailing it.

The inside of the card I used some more scraps of the Glam Rock stack and cut a piece of white card stock that is a scrap to size. taped it down. I printed the sentiment that I found online. I then added some stickopomus stickers from my stash. The sentiment says :

Pure Imagination

I had 3 or 4 pages left in my small Staphmore Visual journal, so I took them out and did some backgrounds with the Melted Crayon technique. Just to have some backgrounds. This is one of the pages I did the background.

The crayons I used were magenta, a yellow and a green yellow. I took used some white craft paint over a tree mask. When it dried you can see some of the magenta crayon coming through the paint. Really cool! When it dried I took a black Bic pen and outlined the tree. I stamped the Unicorn on white cardstock with the black Menento ink pad. Colored him in with the metallic color pencils by Faber-Castell.  I attached him on the page with Miracle tape. The unicorn needed a friend so I took one of the wood embellishments pieces by Prima, colored both sides with yellow craft paint(I didn't know which way the birdie wanted to face). Glued him using Aileen's tacky. I used the "Pure imagination"stamp for the page. When I got this stamp I cut the words apart, it is easier for me to use it this way. Yes I know the 'P' in Pure is cut off. I was kinda ticked when I pulled the stamp up. But I'm going to let it go and say its part of the process of art journaling.
