Quote the Raven Nevermore

Hello again. I'm back with another Halloween journal page for you.

Back in Sept. Retro cafe art gallery on their facebook page posted a free Halloween collage sheet, and of course a challenge. To use at least one item from the collage in your art piece. I did a journal page in my little Straphmore Visual Mix Media art journal.  chose to use 3 of the collage images and of Course a couple of VLVS! stamps! :)

I printed the collage sheet and right then cut out the Poe image. I did a gel medium transfer with it. After i cut the image out. i put some good amount of Gel Medium on the picture. I then placed it on the Journal page. I burnished it to make sure I get a good transfer. Or as close as a good transfer I can get. these transfers can be  little temperamental. After sitting on the page for a few seconds, I lifted the picture off.

as you can see I got a pretty good transfer. Though he is missing part of his stash.:P After it dried i painted the page with purple water color paint.I used some Screamin Banchee Black Lindy's stamp gang starburst spray with some punchenllia and some Golden Doubloons Moon shadow mist.

I then cut out the raven and wings from the collage sheet. I glued the raven down with the gel medium since I still had it by me. When that was drying I stamped the Wheel lady on white cardstock. Colored her with markers. Cut her out and then glued the wings to her. Before glueing her down. I put some drips of water down craft paint. Was trying to get a dark look to the page. I then stamped "Nevermore" on a piece white cardstock Sponged Seedless Preserves Distress ink on it, Cut it out and glued it on the page. For the title I wrote the it on a scrap of black cardstock with a silver pen. Last step I distressed the edges of the page and used black soot distress ink pad.

fight like a girl

October is breast cancer awareness month.  In honor of the month,  I did a journal page.

I did the page in my small Straphmore Visual journal Mix Media 140lb paper. I played with the Bubble Gum Pink Dylusion spray(I so love this spray! its so bright! want them all! LOL). Then I sprayed the Sky Blue S.E.I. Tumble dye is a couple places. It came out purpleish, when mixed with the Dylusion spray. I was fine \with that.

I had gotten a couple images stamped on tissue paper in a RAK. I glued one of them on the page using matte medium .Think the image is by Hero Arts. The Digi stamp is by Milk Coffee digi stamps. I colored her with markers. the ribbons I originally colored her with marker, but it was not pink magenta, but more purple magenta to my liking. So i took a paint brush and (carefully i might add ) painted the ribbons white and then in a hot pink(though i think that pink is too light for this piece but i let it go. lol) Glued her down the page. I did a black and white border. the black is from marker and the white is white craft paint done in a few layers. The lettering is from a Studio G alpha set.

my latest buzz campaign Green mountain fair trade coffee

Some of you guys know I am a buzz agent for buzzagent.com. I recently signed up for another campaign. The campaign is for Green Mountain coffee for the "Great Coffee Good Vibes pass it on" Their free trade coffees. I got my kit yesterday.

In my kit was the buzz guide, coupons to pass out for either a package of k-cups or ground coffee for the fair trade, and 3 sample boxes of 4 flavors of coffee in kcups. The flavors are Sumatran reserve, Wild Mountian Blueberry, Vermont Country Blend and Colombian.

This morning I had the Wild Blueberry. It is a light roast. It was good, it smelled like blueberry when it was brewing and it tasted like blueberry when I drank it. Some coffees I find does not taste the flavor says it is. Tomorrow I will try one of the other flavors. Though I will admit I'll probably will not try the Sumatran Reserve as that is too strong of a coffee for me. My dad will be having that one. :)

To learn more about Green mountain fair trade coffee go to their facebook page and like them so you will be able to watch their video. Also go to http://www.greenmountaincoffee.com/

Zibbet shop reopened

Last year, i had put up for sale in my Zibbet shop some journals I had made with the covers being flat board canvas and a couple had 140lb WC paper from a Straphmore Visual Journal and other had 90lb WC paper by Artist . Well they never sold. So I took them off the shop. And recently I had re did the pages and made the more of a junk journal, with various papers like book pages, dictionary pages, ephemera, scrapbook paper. Here are the covers of the old journals

I then made some more 5x7 and a 8x10 junk journals with flat board canvases as the covers. I also made some 4x4 ones too. the front covers are coasters that I altered. here are the pictures of the newer ones.

I have you tubes on all of these, here  and here
For financial reasons, I can only ship  these journals to USA. Go to my shop to check them out. Click on the owl blinki on the right side bar. or click on the link in the beginning of this post. :) I'm hoping to add more stuff to my shop.

ding dong the witch is dead

Hello everyone! This is my first post for the new term of VLVS! Today is a journal page.

I've been really liking the Oreo cookie ads that Have been in magazines the past few months. I saw the one for the Halloween Oreo's and knew I had to do a journal page with it and VLVS!stamps.:)

As you can see the cookies are legs of a witch.I instantly thought if the Wizard of Oz when the house Fell on the Wicked With of the East. I have to say I should of done this page on the other side, as would of liked the legs closer to the edge of the page, and not next to the holes. But the page turned out great!

The background I used two orange craft paints. a light orange and a bright orange  I put some on the page and with my pallete knife I spread the paint all over the page. I then took a baby wipe to spread the paint out  more on the page. I took the Star punchenllia that I was RAK'ed, with black craft paint put some on the page with a sponge. I then took a brick stencil and some Golden light molding paste(it was one of those little jars from the mediums starter set) and with the CLEAN pallet knife put the molding paste on the stencil.

After it dried I deiced to leave it white. I took the tree background  and stamped the top pf the branches in Black archival ink pad around the edges of the page.

I glued the Cookie legs on a piece of lightweight chipboard (cereal box) to give it some sturdiness. I put some foam tape in it to give it some dimension to the page. First time ding that on a journal page. I then stamped the Wicked Witch With Broom on white cardstock with black Memento ink pad. colored her face with green color pencil. fussy cut her out and put her on the page like she is standing on the legs of "her sister"

For the page title I went through my stash of alpha stickers and pulled out these green and black ones. Stuck then on to White glossy cardstock. The cut that out and glued the word blocks on the page. Then they stuck out like a sore thumb with all the white. So I took the Black Soot Distress ink pad and a water brush and painted the white glossy cardstock.

8x10 canvas

the other day I played with one of the 8x10 flat canvas. I wanted to play with some of the goodies Sharon sent me from the Ranger sale. :)

I did lots of layers. First layer is dictionary papers and music sheet glued on with modge podge matte. then gesso. then took some stencils and the 3 color washes Sharon sent me. Plum, eggplant and espresso. Then another layer of gesso to see it the color washes come up. these are my first bottles of the stuff! :D Then I went purple and added layers of different shades of purple craft paints. In between the layers i sprayed some of the goosebumps. More stencils and color wash spay in eggplant. I used some molding paste from Blick on the harlequin stencil. after that dried I put the stencil back over the white molding paste and sprayed the eggplant color wash over it. I put some water down black craft paint on a paint pallet along with  neon purple. I sprayed a lot of water in the neon purple craft paint to water it down. and made a pinch of drips.

Then i did something dumb. I deiced to put some rock candy distress crackle paint on parts of where i had the molding paste in the corners. after it started to crack i blasted it with heat gun. It cracked nicely, but it was also flaking off! UGH! So i flaked the rest off as best I could and put the stencil back and I did cover the rest of the canvas with scrap paper and paper towel for over spray(did that when I was using the harlequin stencils in the 3 places).

Last thing I did was spray some Lindy's Stamp Gang Voodoo Violet  Blue (and I have just a tiny bit left in the bottle. :P), I let it drip down the canvas.

I then deiced to make it into junk journal. the canvas is the cover. The papers inside is all kinds of different papers from are in my stash, from back in the day, dictionary papers, retro ads, scrapbook papers, and other type of paper.

Melted crayon canvas

I wanted to make a couple more melted crayon canvas. I bought about 6 packs of the Crayola crayons in 24 count during the back to school sale. At Micheal's I got the 5 pack of 8x10 canvases.

This time I painted the canvas black(ok confession time! I wanted to a heart on one of them and glue the crayons halves around the heart but unwrapped crayons do not stuck to hot glue very well, so went with plan B.) then hot glued the crayons to it. Then too the heat gun to it and melted. this is what one of them looked like after melting.

I then turned it upside down so the crayons were on the bottom and the melted drips were on top. I was RAK'ed some silk flowers I deiced to use. I took apart the flowers. and put them back together. This one has the smaller flowers.

After this one I did do another one So did the same thing as above and this time used the left over flowers from when I took them apart. and took apart other flowers so I can use the bling on those. :) I wanted quotes to them so I went to Brainery.com and looked for flower quotes that weren't so serious, as I am not a serious type of girl. :P

I found a John Lennon quote...well its actually a Lyric from "Mind Games" and it was perfect for who I am giving it to.

Copied and pasted the quotes into Word. Changed the font size and font. font is called Sketchbook. Printed it on white cardstock. Cut the words apart and used 1/4 Miracle tape to attached the words to the crayons. and they are sticking nicely to them.

This one I stamped a bee(by bugawamps) on one of the flowers. I stamped in Black Memento ink pad. colored with bic markit markers. Attached him with Miracle tape.

Thank you canvas

I made another canvas. I finished it yesterday. the background of the canvas i did a couple days ago. Lots of layers in no paticular order of napkins, 7gypsies tissue paper, pink craft paints, stencils, bubble gum pink dylusions spray, more paint, goosebumps, more paint, pink grapefruit radiant rains spray, more paint, more sprays(black tumble dye spray and bubble gum pink dylusions and phantom fuchsia). I edged the canvas with white and then black craft paint.

I wanted to find an elf. so I went to google and all I found were elves that way to fantasy for me or Christmas elves(and that would just not do! LOL). So I went looking through my DVD of digi stamps I have and found this one by Pixi Dust Studio. I know its probably more fairy, than elf, but will do. I went into word and re-sized her smaller and got like 9 to a page to see if that would work. And I also re-sized her a bit bigger. I chose the bigger one. I colored her in prisma color pencils. Glued her on with Elmers Glue. The dots of her crown I used some Pink Stickles and Spun Sugar Stickles. The black spots of the mushroom I used Rock Candy Stickles.  I spelled out Little pink elf with alpha stickers by Kaiser Craft. The thank you the alpha stickers are from Target $1 spot. I stuck them all on white cardstock. Cut them out and blacked out he edges with black marker. Glued them on with Glossy Accents.

I'm entering this in Chic Scrapbook's blog for the monthly challenge for the month of October.
