June ARC Book

The book That I read for June was "Blood Oath" by Christopher Farnsworth.

It is the first of the Nathaniel Cade series. Nathaniel Cade is a vampire. 140 years ago President Andrew Jackson pardon Cade, and made Cade a Secret Service by  making Cade take a blood oath to protect the country. Zach Barrows a  new hire to be the new vampire liaison to the president. Zach is replacing William Griffiin, she is soon to retire.

The story starts off in the Middle East where Dylan and Kahled became friends back in the state in collage. Kahled started telling Dylan things to get Dylan to work for him. Dylan decides to do the work. The work is to make umenschsoldat soldiers, which are like zombie soldiers.  Then We are introduced to Dr. Frankenstine....no really but only his name is Dr. Johann Konrad. Konrad is trying to get rid of Cade, for what Cade did to him way way way back in the day. Along with the "shadow company"

I bought this book along with the 2nd book in the series at Border when it was going out of business. It looked interesting from what i read in the back. I do like Vampire books, but not sparking, and not too much blood and guts. I like to read the ones that have a bit of humor to them and are light. This book was not one of them. LOL It did have a little bit of humor to it. It did have Blood and guts, but not the normal kind you get in vampire books. Once I started reading the book I didn't think I would be into the book. But I couldn't put the book down. It was a quick read. Took me 3 days to read it.

The book I'll be reading for July is the 2nd book in the series, President's Vampire.

ICAD 2014 Day 1 and 2

Index card a day 2014 sneaked up on me this year. I totally forgot about it. Again I'm going to be doing Rolodex cards since I still have a ton of them. I am way behind. I only did 2 of them so far. As you know we are selling the house. A lot of my stuff is packed up (boxes not closed up though) or put away downstairs in the basement. It gets be be a pain when I want something to go downstairs get what I want, bring it it then bring it back when I'm done. And then cleaning up the mess when I'm done. So I haven't done much of anything the last few weeks.

We also changed Realtor this week. The listing was up again with the new one and everyday this week we have had 1 or 2 people a day looking at the house. Sadly no offers. There were some promising ones, but the wife didn't like the house sigh. Granted its not even a week since we got the new guy but wish this house will sell. People want new. Well if you want new, go build a new house. then you'll have new everything.

Anyway I did end up doing a couple of Rolodex cards. Just with stuff or my my desk

Day 1: scrap of paper from the Create Collection by Recollections. Image from a book and sentiment was from book that I cut out. edges of the card is blue Gel stick, and black fine point pen from Dollar tree.

Day 2: Background: Washi tape Gesso and Red and Yellow neo color 2's. Paper is from Graphic 45 La Crque paper line. drew lines with black pen.

I hope to do more, but I'm dog sitting in a couple weeks for a few days this month. And depending if I want to go digging for stuff to use for these, lol

Anything but a card: Challenge 36 Summer nights

So this month theme at Anything but a card is Summer Night. When I read the theme I started signing the song from "Grease" in my head. :D

The past week weeks my online friends have been doing prompt deck of cards that Kiala started. and one day on an Ustream a bunch of them got together and made a list of prompts for people (like me) who don't have the deck or the add-on decks. So I used that list for my journal page. I used random.org to pick my numbers. I did have an idea what I wanted to use for the page, like the picture and the part of lyric of "Summer Nights" song.

Here is the list of what I did.

1. Add pink (I SWEAR IT WAS ON THE LIST! HONEST! (I used some water down pink craft paint))
2. journal on page. (did this last the lyric of the song)
3. use a number (i had a number mask and sprayed Squeezed Orange dylusion spray)
4. paint with baby wipe (I used another pink craft paint with baby wipe)
5. Use a piece of junk mail. (did a tape transfer with the piece of junk mail)
6 use a napkin (used a black and white flower napkin on 2 of the corners)
7 use metallic pen or paint(used pewter distress stain.)
8. add any shape (I did hearts)
9. use bubble wrap (with white  paint)
10. use 70's icon ("Sandy" and "Danny")

I liked how the page came out. I did add the chipboard glasses that was from Michael's. painted it white and sprayed the orange and pink dylusion sprays. I then added some S T I C K L E S to the glasses to make it like bling on the glasses like Jan did in the movie. The heart is grunge board that was painted and crackle with black and red. but I painted it white and sprayed it with the pink and orange sprays. Glued both with Aleen's tacky.

So come play and join the fun at Anything but a card!
