Anything but A card Challenge blog: 5 in 5

There are 5 Sundays in March so that means another 5 in 5 challenge at Anything but a Card!  My 5 in 5 is a double page journal spread. I adapted Journal by 5's that Sharon Green started. I just didn't time myself as its only 2 pages. I just used the basic 5 things: background, texture, stamps/stencils, focal point, and details.

The page already had the background on it, orange and black on it. Left overs from working on a previous page. That was my starting point.

Then worked on my texture. I tore a book page, and a dictionary pages. tore them into strips and glued them down. I then took a music sheet and cut out hears and glued them down. Lastly I tore some pattern tissue paper and glued that down.

Next was the stencils. I used a circle stencil from Crafter's Workshop in an orange craft paint. Next I used a harlequin stencil with black Dylusions spray. Then I used white craft paint on a circle stencil. I have to admit I thought it was looking like a hot mess. Next I stamped a swiss dot background stamp with Licorise ink pad by Color Box in the Stephanie Barnard line.

Forth was my focal point. I went through my black and white magazine images and took her out to cut out and glued her on the page. I took the ring from an ad and cut it to make  it look like a big pendant. The other side I stamped with a alphabet stamp set from Recollections and stamped on tissue paper with black Versafine ink pad the quote. I follow Disney quotes on twitter and they post quotes from Walt Disney and the movies. The one I used is from Alice and Wonderland. The Cheshire cat says the line. I cut out the words and glued it to the page with matte medium.

The last step was the details. I added dots to the bottom of the girl and where her arms and her head with a paint pen. With the same paint pen I went around the stencil where I used the white craft paint. I took a black Bic pen and went around the words. I then took a white Neo color 2 crayon and went around the words again. I took the black Stabilo pencil and went around the girl and used my water brush after.

So there is my 5 in 5. Don't forget to go to Anything but a card challenge blog to see what everyone else dd and play along in this week long challenge

Free as a Bird: VLVS! March Challenge

Viva Las VegaStamps! has a this month.
monthly challenge on their blog. I took up the challenge based on their inspiration board for this month.

This is what I came up with for the challenge.

To make the stripes I used 2 washi tapes and put across the journal. I did burnish the tapes to try and keep the sprays didn't go underneath. I sprayed one side of my Dylusion Journal with water before spraying with Cut Grass and  Fresh lime Dylusion sprays. I did turn the page so the other side could get the colors, but I didn't get enough coverage, so I sprayed water on that side and sprayed the same colors. The sprays did get under one of the tapes, but not too bad.

After it was dried, I took back and white craft paints put a little dabs of each on a paint pallet and sprayed a bunch of water. With a paint brush I made patters and splots. I let that dry as I went out for the day.

When I came home I used a text stamp with  peeled paint distress ink pad. I then stamped  the triangle banner in mowed lawn distress ink pad. on white cardstock with Black  StazOn  I stamped the Bird in Hat, Sitting Bird, and Sitting bird.  I colored them with Neo color 2's in greens. cut them out and glued them on the page. I then painted in black "free as a bird".

Documented life weeks 5,7, and 8

So I redid week 5 and did weeks 7 and 8. Weeks 6 was in previous blog post. Still have to finish week 9

Journal 52 2015

Last year I started doing journal 52 but only made it through 4 or 5 months as we put the house up for sale and all my craft stuff was packed away. I thought when we moved into a new place I would just do the prompts when I got my stuff. Well that never happened. Journal 52 is happening again so I decided to join in as I have my stuff. :) Here are the weeks 1-9 Minus week 8 as I still need to do that one.

Whats in a name?

Today is art journal class and her I am blogging about the class we had last week. :)

Last week the focus was on using Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing casting resin. It was a fun class. We molded out first initial from alphabet blocks you get in the toy store or toy section in a stote (Target, Walmart). After the mold was made we poured the resin and let it sit to cure while we worked on the journal page.

When I came home I finished the page by gluing my molded piece to the journal paeg. Cut the page to fit my journal and glued it to the journal.

I had a scrap of the background from cutting the page So not letting it to go to waste I cut it in to 2 ATC cards and made ATC's with them.

I did added the Grid washi background and the line of chevron stamps from VLVS! to the background. I stamped a Mary Vogel Lozinak image and the small striped butterfly images fussy cut them out and glued the wings to the girl and glued them on the atc(they were extra from a spool swap I'm in over at the VLVS! groupies FB group). Stamped a couple of VLVS! sentiments, glued them on and I gt to use my black Stabilo pencil for the first time.

Anything But a Card Challenge 45 Green with Envy

Welcome to March and another challenge at Anything but a Card Challenge blog. This month its Green with Envy. Oy! Green, my least favorite color. So this was a challenge for me. Back in December I had gotten the famous Raskog cart from Ikea for Hanukkah. After putting it together I gathered all my craft paint that I had put in my file cabinet for the move. I separated them into color groups. After i was done and looking at the colors I was like wow I have a lot of green craft paint! (For the record I have a lot of pink craft paint too! LOL)

So I took a piece of light wight cardstock that was from my stash. it was about 11x11. I glued on some flowers that were from a napkin. I grabbed 3 bottles of craft paints from light to dark. Some I scrapped with a old gift card. Some I used my fingers. I was a green mess. After that dried I took my 2 green Dylusions sprays in Fresh Lime and cut grass and some stencils. I stamped a Dollie stamp from Recollections with a Vivid green ink pad and a Ditto stamp of dots in a green Marvy Matchable ink pad. I then took another stencil and Distress paint in peeled paint.  Finally I took the Dylusions white Linen spay and sprayed it through a circle plastic canvas. After everything was dried I cut it up in 2 postcards size (4x6) and  ATC size cards. Unfortunately I did not take a picture of what the paper looked like before I cut it up. I remembered that I should of done it as I was making the first cut with the paper cutter.

So this postcard I used Wicked Birthday tamp set from Tiddly Inks. I stamped her with Versafine black ink pad on Kromecoat from Viva Las VegaStamps! I also embossed her with the Ultra High Gloss embossing powder. I colored her with Crayola markers. I stamped the bad to the bone on a piece of scrap of the Kromecoat. I also stamped the heart and cross bones on the postcard. I glued her and the sentiment down. It still needed something so I glued down the trim that I got at Michael's.

Okay So I had to add some pink! She is Nancy Grew from Krafty Kimmie. I stamped her the same way as the postcard before. I colored her with the same Crayola Markers. I popped her up with foam tape. I stamped the wheres the pink with alphas that I got a Target. Though I wrote the question mark.

Finally The froggy ATC. I stamped the Mona Frog from Viva Las VegaStamps! on the Kromecoate with Versafine black ink pad and embosing it with the Ultra High Glass embossing powder. To make her green I used 2 green alcohol inks. I glued her on the ATC and then I wrote on a scrap its not easy being green( Come on I had to!) I backed all the paper on cereal box to make it sturdy.

So be sure to check out Anything but a Card's blog to see what the Other DT members are doing and come play along!
