May ARC read

This month I read Buffalo West Wing by Julie Hyzy

This is the 4th book in the White House Chef mystery series.

Olivia or Ollie is the first female white house chef.

There is a new presidential family moving in to the white house. The president and first lady have 2 children, In the hussle and bussel of ingratiation day no one saw the box of Buffalo wings, the kids favorite treat show up in the Kitchen. Not knowing where they came from, Ollie hid them away so the kids wouldn't see them. The kids did find them and wanted them, but were told no. Of course the kids told their mom and mom was not too pleased, so she sent for her personal chef, Virgil, to cook their family meals. Causing Ollie to worry about her job. But it turned out that the wings were poisoned.

I enjoyed reading this book, and the series. I couldn't help to think that the author had the Obama's in mind while writing the book. The new first couple are a young couple, they have 2 kids, but unlike the real first family, the president & his wife in the book have a girl 13 and a boy 9. Also mentioned in the book were the First Lady wanting to have a big garden so their kids can have fresh food(and lower their food bill) and then donating what they didn't eat to schools.  Also at the end of the book there are some recipes for adults, and because there are young kids in the oval office now in the series, there are some kid friendly recipes too. And what is a cozy mystery series without romance. After her long breakup up With Secert service agent Tom in the last book, there is a starting of a new romance starting.  And he sounds a lot nicer than Tom, not that Tom was a totally bad guy. lol

I had no clue what I anted to do for the journal page. I went online and found 2 pictures of the white house. I did a transfer using Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium in gloss. After they were transferred and dried I took some blue paint and painted the page. Added some punchenllia with white paint and a plastic canvas as a stencil using a mix of Scream banchee black Lindy Stamp gang and black S.E.I. tumble due spray.  The then found a chef's hat dig.i and some chicken wing labels. I glued them on the page.I then took a sharpie and wrote the title of the book.

ABAC challenge Week 20-using your old supplies

Hi everyone! its time for the new challenge over at ABAC! the new challenge is using your old supplies. you know you bought stuff months or years ago and maybe used it once or twice and then never touched it again. well get them out and start playing!

When I started thinking on what to do for this theme I didn't have a clue  what to do. Then I thought back to the art retreat last month and the coasters we made that Martha taught us. I haven't used my UTEE in a long time and then I thought about my other stamps that I have that I have't used in forever! so I got out my crayons, craft iron, Bristol paper, stamps, and my UTEE and heat gun and went to work.

I had these round coasters that I got at Saver's thrift store last year I took 6 of them to used them for the base of the coasters instead of the cork. See I used another old supply! :D I took one of the coasters and put it on the Bristol board to trace it. I cut the circles a little bit over where i traced the coaster. I then took my black versafine inkpad and stamped on the Bristol with my stamps. The 2 girls, I do not remember where I got them from. I got them at a convention years ago and do not remember the company. The skyline looking up and the Mark Twain quote are from Stampland. The Chicago theater is from .

After i stamped the images. I tok my prisma color pencils and colored parts of the images. Then I heated up my craft iron and grabbed some crayons and put the crayon to my iron and swiped the color on the Bristol with one swipe. Did that til the whole coaster was covered.

I then used the Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA glue and put some onto the coaster, spread the glue around then took the Bristol paper and placed it onto the coaster. I got out a big heavy dictionary and put each of the coaster inside the book so the paper and coaster can stick together. Once dried I took them out and trimmed them.

Now We get to the UTEE. I used my clear embossing pad and inked up the coaster. and then added the UTEE. I did 3 layers of UTEE. and its smooth!

Here is a close up on one of the coasters. This one I used a Glitter crayola crayon.

So dust off your old supplies We all have them! and start playing and link up your project to the Anything But A Card challenge blog!

VLVS! Helmar swap

All week the Viva Las VegaStamps! design team will be showing projects using Helmar Adhesive  And the Helmar Design team is doing projects using VLVS! stamps. Be sure to go to VLVS! blog to see what my team has been doing all week long. and don't forget to leave some love while you are there. :)

Here is my project I did for the swap.

I took a big clothespin that you get in the $1.50 bin at Micheal's. This is one side of it. I took it apart and sanded it and then Gessoed, I then did 4 coats of Magenta arylic paint. inside and out. While that was drying, I had some of the denim fabric tatter floral die that I cut while I was Austin. I took some black craft paint and some textile medium and painted the Chevron washi background stamp and stamped on to the fabric.  I then put the clothespin back together. I alternated the denim with the book paper of the tatter floral die. I used the Helmar 450 quick dry adhesive to glue the flowers layers and the bling center. I glued the flower to the clothes pin with the Craft and Hobby PVA Glue by Helmar.   I also used the adhesive to glue the 'S' clip to the clothes pin.I stamped Dream big on Kromecote with Colorbox pinkalious ink pad. slid it into the 'S' clip.

This side I used the Grid washi background stamp on the denim die cuts to make this flower. I stamped the sun bathing bird on the matte side of the kromekote with licorice colorbox ink pad. I then stamed the sentiment "yes i'm afraid its true I've fallen in with the wrong crowd.." stamped with pinkalious colorbox ink pad. cut them apart and glued all the paper pieces with the Craft and hobby pva glue.  It still needing something so I grabbed the inkssentials Enamel accents in black and white and did some dots on both sides.

Hope you like the project be sure to visit VLVS! blog and check out what Pinky and Kersten did to day and check out all week!

ABAC Challenge week 19

Its time for another ABAC challenge. The challenge for the ext 2 weeks is a color challenge. Here is the picture of the colors for the challenge.

Here is my result of  challenge.

As you can see I did a journal page. I did a base coat the aqua color,. I stamped with the bubble gum pink craft paint with the Harlequin diamond background stamp. I then used the powder blue  in parts, didn't like it wipe it off with a baby wipe. liked how it turned out, so wiped some more. then I used the 6 hexagon stamp by Viva Las VegaStamps! in the paradise blue.I did outline it in black Bic pen. I stamped the chevron stamp in Razzle berry. I then did some drips in the Aqua, Razzle Berry, and Silver and some splots with the left over paints. I printed out a sentiment from Ginger's house and painted the words in the silver. I glued them to the page.

So thats it! Hope you all come play in the new challenge!

Viva Las VegaStamps! DT Tryout

It that time again! Here is my DT try out for the Next Term of Viva Las VegaStamps! Design team! I love being on this team! the stamps are awesome and made in the USA! Right in the VLVS! The Miracle tape is the only tape I ever use since I started stamping.

A few months ago I was thinking back to when I first got into rubber stamping. I think I was at a convention and thought how cool would it be to work for a rubber stamp company and get paid to play. And for the past year I have been doing just that! And its with one of the first rubber stamp companies that I fell in love with when I got into rubber stamping. How cool is that!

Here are some of my past projects that I loved doing in this past term.

These 2 go together(and I couldn't decide what to show off with my favorite projects lol). These 2 pictures  are from a ATC/Tag Swap VLVS! hosted on their FB page. It was an open theme. And I chose to do an alternative OZ  that Dorthy and Toto went to. If your on face book be sure to go to VLVS! swap FB group and join in on the fun!

This one is my latest VLVS! DT post its the inside pages of a Domino book Love how it turned out. Love that even though some parts are popped out its not bulky when its all folded.

Here is a fun card I did for the Shop your own stash challenge. It made top 3. Love the cat and the Sentiment. That plate that the sentiment is on is on my wish list. ;)

Here is a journal page I did when Viva Las VegaStamps! did a swap with Clearsnap. Love it so cute!

My final picture is a Finn inspired canvas.

So there you have it, my favorite projects with VLVS! Yeah I know there are a lot of pictures but I couldn't decide!! The past year I've been on the team has been a blast and I hope to continue working with them for the next term! So let the crossing of fingers and toes and eyes begin! :D

its a bird...its a plane...no its another domino book!

Today's project I made another Domino book. This one was so fun to make.

I used Sunshine Yellow and purple twilight Alcohol inks on the dominoes  I then stamped the brick background stamp with Black Memento ink pad. Yes,I know I should of used Stazon, but I don't have it. So, I used what I have. The edges I used my Heat and Stick embossing powder and some metallic flakes that I had in my stash for years. I stamped the superman standing image on white cardstock and black Memento ink pad. Colored him with Prisma color pencils. Glued him down on the domino and then glossy accented the domino (along with the second domino.) I also Glossy accent the sides of the domino. I took some May Arts trim that was white and colored it with some purple spray. I glued it to each domino.

Now its time for the inside of the book. I took a piece of white cardstock cut it about 2 inches wide and 9 inches long and scored it at every 7/8ths. You should have 10 sections. But I never do, not a math wiz. lol

I took The Salted Ocean distress ink pad and sponged the color all over the paper to make it look like a sky. I stamped everything with black archival ink pad. I first stamped the Whimsical clouds. I then stamped the Whimsical trees and houses just for placement. On white cardstock I stamped the Whimsical trees and houses. I colored everything with color pencils. I also added some Glossy Accents to parts of the trees and houses. I cut them out and used foam squares to attach them to the pages. I then stamped Superman Flying and colored him in. I then stamped the Sentiment "all my Heroes where their underwear on the outside." and cut the words apart and glued them to the pages. Love how this turned out!

When everything was done. I used Miracle tape and glossy accents to attached the inside of the book to the domino covers. When dried I tied the trim in bows to close the book.
